Activate to Open New Immersive Gaming Attraction in Maidstone

A major new immersive gaming attraction described like being in a scene from Mission Impossible is set to launch in Maidstone this summer as fast-growing leisure brand Activate continues its rapid UK expansion.

The new Maidstone venue at Fremlin Walk will become the seventh Activate site to open in the UK and only the second outside London, following the successful launch of Activate Newcastle earlier this year.

Activate combines physical challenges with interactive, technology-driven gameplay, inviting groups of two to five players to jump, climb and problem-solve their way through high-energy game rooms featuring lasers, grids, hoops and portals.

The Maidstone site will feature nine immersive game rooms, bringing all of Activate’s signature experiences – Strike, Portals, Control, Press, Hide, Laser, Grid, Mega Grid and Hoops – together under one roof.

Originally launched in Canada in 2017, Activate now operates more than 60 locations globally across Canada, the US and Dubai, and has generated more than 750 million social media views. The concept has quickly become a go-to destination for Gen Z, young professionals, families and groups looking for fun, fast-paced activities with a social edge.

Rich Beese, co-founder of We Do Play, said: “We’re excited to bring Activate to Maidstone as we continue expanding the brand across the UK. Since launching our first venues, we’ve seen huge demand for immersive, technology-led experiences that offer something genuinely different from traditional leisure activities. Maidstone is a fantastic location for Activate, with a strong catchment and growing appetite for social entertainment. The venue will give visitors the chance to experience our unique interactive game rooms in a fun, high-energy environment that appeals to all ages.”

Activate’s UK growth follows successful openings across London, including at The O2, which became the first Activate venue outside North America when it launched in December 2024. The attraction now boasts a top-tier TripAdvisor ranking and glowing five-star reviews.

Further details, including the official opening date and booking information, will be announced later this summer.
