Employing a strategy based on statistics against slots

You might have clicked onto this article hoping to find an accurate way to beat the odds (literally) and win every time when you’re playing slots. And wouldn’t that be amazing? But it’s not what this is all about. The truth is, you can’t beat the RNG (random number generator) and you can’t use any cheats or tricks to ensure you win every single time when you’re playing slots, online or offline. They just can’t be predicted, and that’s why people like to play them; if a win does come, it’s always unexpected and much more exciting because of it.

However, you can get a little bit of an edge over the casino when playing slots at www.kingcasino.com. It’s never going to guarantee you a win, but it can make things a little fairer. Some of these ideas are much easier to do than others, but if you want to give yourself a head start you might be keen to read on.

Calculating Probabilities

If you can calculate the probability of a particular – winning – combination coming up on a slot that you are interested in playing, then you can work out whether or not it is worth playing. Now, as we’ve said that isn’t the same as knowing you’re going to win, but it will give you some indication of how likely it is that you’ll win, and that’s really the best you can hope for when it comes to playing slots online. At the very least, you’ll know whether the game is worth putting your money into or not.

To begin with, you’ll need to know what the odds of winning are on the game, as well as how much you would win if the right combination came up. The pay table – a legal requirement – will show you this latter information,  but the former is a little more difficult to determine. However, difficult is not the same as impossible, but if you really want to know, you’ll have to do some maths.

You begin by looking at the number of reels the game has. Multiply that number by the number of symbols that appear of each separate reel, and again by the number of stops on the reels. Let’s make it easy and use a game that has three reels with five symbols on as our example. Here you would multiply 5 x 5 x 5. The answer is 125, giving you 125 different ways to win. Once you have this number, you’ll need to work out how likely it is you’ll get one of these winning combinations. In other words, what are your chances of winning?

To get to the answer, you need to know what a winning combination looks like. In the imaginary three reel game above, you would need three symbols to line up to allow you to win. If there is just one of these symbols per reel, you’ll need to: 1/5 x 1/5 x 1/5, which is 0.008. Therefore, you have a 0.008% chance of winning.

Can It Really Be Done?

Now, we have clearly used a very basic example, and the more reels you have, the more symbols there are, and the more the winning symbols turn up on each reel, the more complicated the maths is going to be (and the lower your chance of winning at all anyway).

So although it is possible to work out a probability strategy when it comes to playing your slot games, the time it would take and the effort involved compared to the difference it would make to your game is hardly worth considering. It’s far better just to find a game you like and have a budget in place and enjoy playing instead.
