What You Do And Don’t Want To See In Your E-Liquid

Plenty of people switch from smoking cigarettes to vaping because the latter doesn’t contain a lot of the harmful stuff that’s in the former. However, that doesn’t mean that all e-liquids are made equal, with some lacking certain elements or containing things they shouldn’t.

If you’re not sure what your e-liquid should and shouldn’t contain, this guide ought to give you a helping hand. We’ve highlighted some of the stuff you do want to see, and some of the stuff you definitely don’t.

Vegetable Glycerine

Believed to be non-toxic, vegetable glycerine is commonly found in a range of products, including cosmetics and food. It’s for this reason that it’s also one of the main ingredients in e-liquids, although the jury’s still out on precisely how safe it is to inhale.

Colourless and odourless, the amount that’s present tends to differ depending on the e-liquid you vape. Beginners are advised to use those with a 50/50 ratio of vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, whereas more experienced vapers may have their own preference.

Propylene Glycol

Another central ingredient in e-liquids is propylene glycol. It’s most commonly used as an additive in food, although it’s also a popular ingredient for vapers.

If you’re looking for greater flavour and a proper throat hit sensation, you’ll want e-liquids that contain a higher ratio of propylene glycol to vegetable glycerine. E-liquids that contain more of the latter tend to be sweeter and hit the throat smoothly.

Flavouring

One of the biggest advantages of vaping over smoking is the immense range of flavourings available in the former. Every inhale gives you a taste sensation that can be just as satisfying as eating the food itself.

For a wide variety of e-liquids, you’ll want to shop somewhere like My Cigara. They offer flavour combinations you might never have considered before, with plenty of information on what to go for if you’re new to vaping. With many of the latest and greatest e-liquids available to buy, you should find your new favourite flavour here.

Water

Water is often used as a way to dilute liquids and lessen their strength and flavour. That’s why it’s an ingredient you don’t want in your e-liquid.

Unfortunately, plenty of manufacturers use it as a way to increase yield during production. It allows them to further stretch the other ingredients, meaning they can create more e-liquids, but at the expense of your vaping experience. That’s not what you want, so be wary if there’s mention of water anywhere on the label.

Diketones

Something that you don’t want to find in your e-liquid is diketones. These are chemicals typically used to create creamier flavours, but they have a risk of causing certain side-effects when inhaled.

Diketones that can be found in e-liquids – and which you want to avoid – include acetoin, acetyl propionyl, and diacetyl. If you see these anywhere on the label – which you should check thoroughly – then you’ll want to give that e-liquid a miss.

As with anything else you put in your body, you should always check what’s in your e-liquid to ensure you understand just how safe or unsafe it is. This isn’t the kind of thing you want to overlook.
