Xmas Comes Even Earlier to Kent in 2025: Events for Couples to Explore This Winter

Over the last handful of years or so, the Brits have developed a bit of an inside joke that now, Xmas festivities actually get underway in November, almost as soon as Halloween is through. With supermarkets quickly shifting themes from spooky to snowy, you can see why we’ve developed this perception.

Along with the same, tired tracks hitting the radio and a wash of white, red, and green everywhere, we get much more interesting live events and occasions swoop in to the UK and especially Kent around this time. In 2025, however, the festive season gets underway as early as mid-November in some Kent cities!

For any couples in Kent looking to explore the winter festivities, we’ve collected up some local events – from the earliest to the more unique – for you to explore.

Xmas Theme Lands Very Early in Canterbury

Xmas is almost certainly coming earlier every year, and Canterbury is going all-in on meeting the demand that comes with the increased prevalence of early festivities. In 2025, the city will kick off its Let it Snow! evening of events to commence the jingle bells ringing on Friday, 14 November!

The centrepiece of these events will be the many lights switch-on locations, of which, there are 12 dotted around Canterbury City Centre. It’s said that you can catch them all if you’re swift enough between 17:00 and 18:15. Around these, you’ll find live music, other live performances, and more. Commencing even sooner than the evening of shows and lights is the Canterbury Christmas Market. It gets going on 12 November in three different zones.

Such an early start to the festivities has become the norm, particularly in entertainment. Now, Xmas-themed content starts to pick up users in November, and so, new releases hit a month early, too. You could look to Netflix’s new Xmas documentary landing on 1 November, or the climb up the charts of existing Xmas content, like Slingo Bells. Even at the time of writing, Slingo Bells has risen up the ranks of the best slingo bingo games online, now standing alongside year-round favourites like Slingo Shark Week and Slingo Stampede.

Novel Ways for Couples to Enjoy Winter Festivities

If you’re going out in the winter in Kent as a couple, you’re going to want to share something memorable, and what better way to find something memorable than to discover a unique offering. That’s exactly what you’d both get by watching a show put on by Terje Isungset.

The Norwegian band is making its way back to these shores this winter, putting on a show at Kent University’s Colyer-Fergusson Hall on 16 November. The novelty of Terje Isungset isn’t just that their Norwegian, of course. The band pioneered ice-made instruments, including the ice horn, ice harp, and ice bass, to create a truly ethereal experience.

For an event that marks a historic local moment, Bedgebury National Pinetum will be going all-out to celebrate its 100th anniversary. It says that it’ll be putting on an “extra special” celebration of millions of lights, festive cheer, awe-inspiring installations, and a re-imagined trail through the pine trees. Starting 21 November, this occasion is not to be missed by Kent locals!
