Canterbury Art Prize to take place with St Edmund’s Festival

St Edmund’s Festival in partnership with The Canterbury Auction Galleries has announced that the inaugural Canterbury Art Prize will take place this year. This is an exciting new competition for artists living in East Kent and is open to two categories: Junior (ages 15-18) and Senior (ages 18+).

This year’s overall winners will receive cash prizes, (Junior £100 prize and Senior £175), plus the Junior winner will have the opportunity to participate in St Edmund’s School’s art workshop with renowned artist Ian Murphy on the 30th June 2022. All winners will have their work exhibited at the St Edmund’s Arts Festival and in the Lilford Gallery in Canterbury.

It will be an amazing opportunity for young artists to work alongside to Ian Murphy – Ian is highly successful as an artist and educator. Since Ian Murphy often uses buildings as foci within his art works, ‘Architecture’ will be the theme for this inaugural competition.

St Edmund’s Festival is committed to promoting the arts and providing inspiring artistic opportunities for young people in East Kent.

The closing date for entries is 20th May 2022 and details on how to enter can be found at www.stedmundsfestival.org.uk.
