Cinderella Comes To The Assembly Hall Theatre
One of the biggest children’s stars, Dani Harmer, will be playing Cinderella in this year’s magical pantomime Cinderella at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Royal Tunbridge Wells. She is known to millions of children as the legendary Tracy Beaker in the CBBC dramatisation of Jacqueline Wilson’s much-loved novels. She was also a finalist on the 2012 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Q: What is your favourite dance from Strictly Come Dancing?
A: My favourite dance was definitely he Argentine tango as Vincent is the king of the tango so I was learning from the best! But I loved every dance apart from the quick step! I just couldn’t get the hang of it until very last minute! Plus we had the added pressure of performing it in Wembley!
Q: How does it feel to have grown up in the limelight?
A: It feels strange to have grown up in the spotlight! All my horrible teenage years were in front of the camera! Braces, spots, frizzy hair all well documented!
Q: Do you miss Tracy Beaker? And would you like to see her brought back as an adult/parent?
A: I do miss Tracy beaker as she was so much fun to play. But we did bring her back as an adult so I feel we’ve covered all we can with the character!
Q: Tell me about panto – have you always loved it? Did you go and see any pantomimes when you were younger?
A: Well I’ve been doing panto for 20 years now so I’ve never had much time to actually sit down and watch a panto! I’ve been in them since I was six so for me panto is Christmas.
Q: If we took a peek in Cinderella’s handbag, what would we find?
A: Probably some cleaning stuff and some lipstick in case she does bump into the man of her dreams!
With an all-star cast, a spectacular set complete with stunning costumes, and two live Shetland ponies, this year’s annual pantomime has something for all the family.
Starring CBBC’s Tracy Beaker Dani Harmer as Cinderella, Jamie Rickers from CITV and Nickoldeon as Buttons, and Louise Jamieson (EastEnders, Doctor Who) as Fairy Godmother, CINDERELLA is perfect for the whole family!
