Experience Kensington’s most ‘go-to’ spot of the moment – Percy’s

Percy’s, West London’s newest spot for late-night drinking, dining and dancing, on Kensington High Street is offering everything from free cocktails to £5 plates. With free entry, Percy’s has a playful atmosphere and features DJs, live music and generous hospitality all the way through to 3am.

insideKENT’s Olivia Riccini went along to check it out.

One Saturday night, the promise of all things new at Percy’s dragged me away from my classic ‘go-to’ and reoccurring weekends on Chelsea’s King’s Road. Although situated on Kensington High Street, this slick and thriving little bar-come-club definitely rivals those famous and well established King’s Road characters such as Jaks, Raffles and Embargoes, yet manages to do this while avoiding all the cheese and stereotypes – let’s just a call it a cooler, more laid-back, younger sibling with nothing to prove.

Sitting at one of the spacious tables complete with emerald-green velvet seating, my best girlfriends and I were handed over an ice-cold bucket of Champagne (yes real, good Champagne and not Prosecco) while we looked onto the entertainment of the neat little dance-floor in front of us. Friends danced about carefree to a mix of funky 80s pop favourites including a lot of George Michael (I am not complaining) and other classics, cleverly mixed by the DJ to give them a smoother, more current sound – guaranteed to get you up and going. A few sips more of Champagne and I was up and dancing too.

Finishing our Champagne a little too quickly, we went on to sample a couple of delectable Porn Star Martinis from the quintessential cocktail menu and continued chatting at the table. Percy’s is the perfect combination of ‘club with dance floor’ and ‘bar with seating’; the options of dancing without feeling self-conscious, and talking without having to shout, both being completely viable.

Would I recommend Percy’s? Yes definitely. If you want the sleek, glossy sophistication of Chelsea but with less arrogance and pretension, you love good drinks and a dance (to Wham! classics especially) then Percy’s is well worth a visit when in London upon an evening.
