Hotel du Vin & Pinewood Present: Summer Screen & Cuisine

Summer Screen & Cuisine,  a unique partnership with Pinewood Studios, is taking place at Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th September 2015.

Summer Screen & Cuisine combines a selection of classic films and cinema hits with delicious food and drinks in the beautiful setting of the extensive lawns at Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells in front of a giant outdoor cinema screen.  

Films will fall into themes with food and drink to match.

Thursday 3rd September: Italian Night – The Talented Mr Ripley

Menu
Baby Calzone
Freshly made pizza dough filled with mozzarella, pepperoni char-gilled onions and artichokes

Heritage Tomato Arancini
Tomato risotto made into a ball and fried in bread crumbs

Tartufo Chocolate
Chocolate ice cream, with Valrhona chocolate sauce, served in a waffle cone

Cannoli
Folded brandy snap stuffed with Chantilly cream, chopped cherries, pistachios and chocolate

Film Summary
To be young and carefree amid the blue waters and idyllic landscape of sun-drenched Italy in the late 1950s; that’s la dolce vita Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) craves- and Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law) leads. When Dickie’s father asks Tom to bring his errant playboy son back home to America, Dickie and his beautiful expatriate girlfriend, Marge Sherwood (Gwyneth Paltrow), never suspect the dangerous extremes to which Ripley will go to make their lifestyle his own.

Film Summary
Gil and Inez travel to Paris as a tag-along vacation on her parents’ business trip. Gil is a successful Hollywood writer but is struggling on his first novel. He falls in love with the city and thinks they should move there after they get married, but Inez does not share his romantic notions of the city or the idea that the 1920s was the golden age. When Inez goes off dancing with her friends, Gil takes a walk at midnight and discovers what could be the ultimate source of inspiration for writing, when an old car stops and the passengers invite him to go a party and soon he realises that he is back in the ’20s, where he meets his favorite writers, musicians and artists and lives his dream. Gil’s daily walks at midnight in Paris could take him closer to the heart of the city but further from the woman he’s about to marry.

Film Summary
Skyfall is the 23rd Bond film. The story centres on Bond investigating an attack on MI6; the attack is part of a plot by former MI6 agent Raoul Silva to humiliate, discredit and kill M as revenge against her for betraying him. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – following a trail to the mysterious Silva (Javier Bardem), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves.
