Howletts Wild Animal Park; Bring Your Cubs To See Our Cubs This Christmas Holiday.

This Christmas holidays Howletts Wild Animal Park in Bekesbourne, Kent, home to over 390 animals, has welcomed some new star attractions to the park: two beautiful lion cubs and a pair of bat-eared foxes.

The six-month old lion cubs, Zemo and Zala, were sadly orphaned when their mother died shortly after their birth. Howletts Wild Animal Park Chairman, Damian Aspinall, his daughter Freya and the keepers have lovingly hand-reared them at Howletts. They are now strong and mature enough to have their own enclosure in the park, so visitors to Howletts will have the pleasure of seeing this cheeky and playful pair located in front of the mansion, opposite the lion-tailed macaques.

Another exciting addition are two bat-eared foxes. This cute large-eared sister duo, Kaya and Jemila have arrived at Howletts Wild Animal Park from Gaia Zoo, Netherlands and settled in well in their new home and are ready to charm our visitors with their quirkiness.

Howletts Animal Director, Matt Ford said: “The new additions to our animal family have been settling in extremely well. Zemo and Zala are the most incredible cubs. We have cared for them since birth, due to the sad passing of their mother, it’s so rewarding to see them grow and flourish. We are delighted that our visitors will be able to enjoy seeing them, as well as our other two new additions, Kaya and Jemila the bat-eared foxes.”

As well as visiting our new animal friends, why not come and send some birthday love to Etana, a loving member of our herd of African elephants, and our Eastern black rhinos, Damara and Rukuru; all celebrating their birthdays this Christmas holidays. Make sure you pick up your fun, free festive spotter’s guide from the Gatehouse and take a trip back to the ice age with our Animals of the Ice Age woodland walk. Discover species from a frosty time long, long ago, from a savage sabre-toothed Smilodon, giant sloth and many more – all included in your admission ticket.

Make your day even more memorable with an unforgettable animal encounter. Whether it’s an elephant encounter or red river hog scatter feed, there is an amazing experience to suit all ages and budgets.

If you need a winter warmer after all that fun, our Coffee House and Pavillion will be serving up delicious treats such as gingerbread hot chocolates and lattes, soups, sandwiches and curries and festive bakes.
