Join Cheryl Baker at the Demelza Run
Cheryl Baker has `made her mind’ up and is joining supporters at Leeds Castle for the annual Demelza Run.
Cheryl, who ran the London Marathon for Demelza in April, will once again be donning her trainers to take part in the 10k run on Sunday 22nd September.
She recently performed with Jay Aston and Mike Nolan, formerly of Bucks Fizz, at Music on the Hill to raise funds for Demelza and Teens Unite Fighting Cancer. Cheryl also offered her services as a chef and this raised over £4,500 in the auction.
Cheryl explained why she wanted to take part in the run: “Ever since we moved into Kent in 1996, I have supported Demelza Hospice Care for Children. After running this year’s Virgin London Marathon for Demelza, I vowed that I would never run that far again. I’m not fast and I’m not very fit, but if running for an hour can raise funds and awareness for Demelza, I am more than happy to do so.”
Entry to 5k or 10k course is £15 per adult and £5 per child (Under 16). A ticket for a family of four, including two adults and two children, is available for £35. The ticket price also includes entry to the castle, a Nando’s voucher, a Demelza t-shirt and a commemorative medal.
Runners are encouraged to raise as much money as possible through sponsorship and a fundraising pack will be available to all entrants. There are prizes for the individuals who raise the most money and for the best corporate team fundraiser. There are also team entry options.
Supporters are being encouraged to bring a bag of clothing or unwanted goods as part of a drop and run initiative to help stock Demelza’s 19 charity shops.
