More than a quarter (26%) of all GCSE grades were awarded at grades 8 and 9, and almost half (44%) achieved grades 7–9, 20% above national average (24% nationally). An overall increase in top grades of 4% percentage points for King’s School Rochester.

Pupils at King’s School Rochester are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results today, with more than a quarter of all grades awarded at the top levels of 8 or 9 (equivalent to the former A*). Almost half of all grades achieved were at levels 7–9, with 44% of entries securing these higher grades, outperforming the national average by 20% (24% nationally).

As the world’s oldest cathedral school, King’s continues to combine a rich history with dynamic, modern academic success, fostering an environment where pupils excel across the full spectrum of academic disciplines. The results are a clear reflection of the dedication of both pupils and staff combined.

Principal of King’s School Rochester, Simon Fisher, said: “I am absolutely delighted for our pupils today. These results are a fantastic testament to their character, commitment and academic ambition they have shown throughout their time at King’s. To see over a quarter of our grades at the absolute top 8 and 9 levels is wonderful, but I am equally proud of the individual progress made by every member of this year group. Of course, results day is about much more than numbers.

For the pupils celebrating today, the results mark the culmination of their GCSE studies and the beginning of the next stage of their education as they start Sixth Form at King’s.
