LOOK YOUR BEST ON YOUR BIG DAY
There is no denying that embarking on the huge task of planning your wedding is one of the most exciting (and occasionally stressful) times in your life. Everything needs to be perfect; this is why bridal makeup is such a big deal. Your wedding snaps need to look timeless, flawless and something that fills you with pride in the future. I have many years of experience with hundreds of brides under my belt, and when it comes to weddings, you have come to the right place!
Everyone is different when it comes to their idea of the perfect makeup, but 9 times out of 10, I am asked to create a look which emphasises the bride’s natural beauty and features without looking too heavy, yet strong enough to hold its own right until the end of the night of the party of their life.
Without realising, your makeup and hair are quite possibly, after the dress, the second most important part to creating the dream wedding and the princess transformation. You need a look that makes you feel beautiful, confident and proud.
Always, always arrange a makeup and hair trial – this could be any time up to a week before the wedding. I often suggest to my clients that they arrange their makeup trial for their hen night; this way you get to test drive your look and can get honest opinions from your bridal party.
If you are not usually a makeup wearer and feel nervous about wearing it, it’s a great idea to organise the hair and makeup trial on the same day. This way, both looks will compliment each other and you will get a more accurate image of how your look will come together.
Use your trial to experiment with different lip colours, false lashes, glosses, lipsticks, you name it. Don’t be afraid to change anything either; the makeup artist is there to relieve some of the pressure off of you, so make the most of it! View examples of your makeup artist’s and hair stylist’s previous bridal work – you may see a look you absolutely adore that can be adapted to suit you and your vision.
Top pre-wedding skin and body care tips
In the lead up to the big day, you may be feeling stressed. Your skin is a reflection of how you are feeling inside, so treat yourself to a pamper day with the girls. Whether it’s a spa day, or a girls’ night in, it is important to look after your skin.
Why not try a face mask? A product taking the industry by storm is ActiDerm’s New Skin Mask. Use 2-3 times a week and the benefits are magical! It smoothes wrinkles, unifies and improves the texture of the skin to make it brighter and younger.
Keep your water intake high, around two litres a day. This will help to flush out toxins and encourage your skin to glow radiantly, with a lower chance of an unwanted outbreak!
You will be the focus of everyone’s attention, so your body on show needs to be preened and polished. Will you be having a tan? Prepare your skin using a luxurious exfoliater – my favourite is ActiDerm Thalassotherapy Body Scrub. It contains ground apricot kernel, rids the skin of impurities, dead cells and unclogs pores. Its mechanical action promotes skin respiration and promotes cell renewal. This also doubles up as an excellent face scrub once or twice a week.
Now that is your skin and body are taken care of, you can sit back, relax, and let the professionals transform you for the biggest and best day of your life!
