Macknade is coming to Folkestone

Macknade is has announced that it will be joining the thriving food & drink community on Folkestone Harbour Arm later this summer.

The collaboration underlines Macknade’s vision of creating, maintaining & enriching communities through quality food & drink experiences; on this occasion, collaborating with the Folkestone Harbour Seafront Development Co to introduce a new dining concept to this fantastic food & drink destination.

The latest venture from Macknade will see an informal restaurant space with indoor & outdoor seating for 120 people open on Folkestone Harbour’s ‘Harbourside’, overlooking the White Cliffs and showcasing a menu that features provenance-rich, quality ingredients, cooked simply to bring out their flavours.

The restaurant will be complemented by a curated retail range, which includes a selection of produce used on the new menu, as well as wine, beer & cider, and a delicatessen serving cheese, charcuterie & other picnic essentials. All of the wines on the shelves will also be available with free corkage in the restaurant, meaning you can drink in and pay the same price as you would for a retail bottle – giving customers the opportunity to try some fantastic wines from local vineyards and further afield.

Shane Godwin, Managing Director of Macknade, commented on the new site opening, “Folkestone represents an incredibly exciting phase for us, and our new space forms a key part of the development & regeneration that is taking place across the town. The harbour arm itself is a thriving community, and together, we can have even more impact on how people are consuming & engaging with food & drink. In true Macknade fashion, we will be showcasing the abundance of fantastic growers, producers & farmers on our new Folkestone doorstep through our menu & on our shelves.”

Paulo Kingston-Correia, General Manager for Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Co, added, “We are delighted to welcome Macknade to Folkestone Harbour & Seafront as we continue to reinvent the English seaside experience. Macknade is moving into our unique new development “Harbourside” which has unparalleled views of the Kent Heritage Coast and English Channel unlike anywhere else in the UK. We are proud of our redevelopment and regeneration of Folkestone Harbour & Seafront and look forward to Macknade adding their menus and shelves to our Harbour Arm offering, and helping us continue to demonstrate that some of the best in Food & Drink in the Garden on England can be found in Folkestone.”
