New Nikkei Brunch + Cocktails Exclusive at Chotto Matte Marylebone

On the 20th May, 2022, Soho’s renowned restaurant, Chotto Matte, opened its newest site, situated in the elegant residential setting of Marylebone, at 26 Paddington Street.

With the new expansion, Chotto Matte launched The Nikkei Brunch entirely designed by Executive Chef Jordan Sclare, alongside a brand new cocktail menu exclusive to its Marylebone branch.

Chotto Matte was the first restaurant of its kind in London to bring Nikkei cuisine to the city– a celebration of Japanese and Peruvian gastronomy, brought together by their shared appreciation of fresh fish and  seasonal ingredients. The Nikkei brunch will be a culinary experience, adding a Nikkei twist on the brunch classics.

The new Nikkei brunch will be available every Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Set at £75.00 per person, it will include 4 appetisers – Edamame beans with sea salt, an Oak Smoked Salmon Tostada with guacamole, a Bao Pato Crujiente with crispy duck, honey orange ponzu and jalapeno and an O-Toro Yaki Niku with premium tuna belly and chilli — a selection of sushi, a choice of three courses in the likes of King Crab Butter Leaf Tacos with Avocado Tempura, Argentinian Red Prawn Truffles and Wagyu Sirloin, and a Chotto Matte dessert platter.

Similarly, the vegetarian Nikkei brunch, set at £55.00 per person, will offer meat and fish free alternatives for appetisers, sushi and main courses. Guests will be able to indulge in King Oyster Mushroom Tostada and Lychee Ceviche for appetisers, El Jardin Roll and Avocado nigiri in place of the Sea bass maki and truffled Hamachi nigiri, and Charcoal Roasted Sweet potato, Nasu Miso and BBQ Huacatay Broccoli for mains.

Of course, brunch wouldn’t be brunch without a tipple! Priced at £12.00 each, Chotto Matte has revisited the all time classic brunch cocktails: the Lima bellini, composed of pisco, Guanabana, lime and prosecco, and the Nikkei Mary, with vodka, Chotto spice blend, soy and tomato. Also on the menu will be a Morning Bird, with rum, aperol, pineapple shrub and lime.

As for the cocktail menu, Chotto Matte is adding four exclusive drinks to its Tokyo to Lima bar offering. In the same style as Chotto Matte Soho’s ‘Frith Street’ cocktails, the Marylebone branch will benefit from its own very special ‘Paddington Street’ choice of cocktails in the likes of the bitter and umami  El Cartel with Casamigos tequila, Campari, umeshu, Amaro Montenegro, pimento dram and kombu, or the refreshingly woody Sakewari with 12 year old Scotch whisky, fino sherry, sparkling sake, wasabi and apple.
