Petrolheads are invited to release their inner speed demon while raising money for a fantastic cause.

Folkestone digital marketing firm, Sleeping Giant Media, is holding a Giant Karting Charity Event as part of its pledge to raise £10,000 for Combat Stress.

The event will take place at Buckmore Park in Chatham, the circuit where Formula 1 superstars Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button honed their skills as youngsters.

Anyone aged over 16 can take part, whether you’re a complete karting novice, or an experienced pro on the track.

All drivers will be provided with a helmet and race suit, and split into teams of three. They will enjoy a practice session around the track, before embarking on a one and a half hour endurance race.  Drivers will take it in turns to get behind the wheel, planning their team’s strategy to allow for fuel stops and loss of feeling in both arms!

At the end of the adrenaline-charged event, teams will have the chance to buy extra laps to push themselves up the rankings, before the ‘charity’ and ‘real’ race results are announced.

Drivers are encouraged to invite along friends and family to the fundraiser. In addition to watching the races and placing bets on the winners, they can also buy tickets for the raffle. Fabulous prizes up for grabs include a 15-minute passenger experience in a Tesla Mode S supercar – which goes from 0 to 60mph in 5.4 seconds – provided by EVision.

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to Combat Stress.

The Giant Karting Day is taking place from 10am to 2.30pm on Saturday 30th May. It is priced at £180 per team of three people.

Corporate teams can bring their company banner and display it for free at the event. Corporate sponsors can also display a banner at the event to advertise their business and join in the networking for just £35.
