ROYAL NOMINATION FOR ELLENOR MEMBER OF STAFF
We are delighted to announce that a dedicated ellenor member of staff, Sue Marshall has been invited to watch the wedding of HRH Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle from inside the walls of Windsor Castle. She will be amongst 1,200 members of the public, 200 of which work for charitable organisations, who have been invited to attend the wedding in recognition of their commitment in making a difference to their local community, in particular young people.
Those honoured will watch the arrival of the Royal Couple, HRH Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle on their wedding day on 19 May as well as their wedding guests, and then the carriage procession as it leaves after the service. Nominations from charity staff were put forward by the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent to represent the county at the prestigious event.
“I feel like the luckiest person because I have the best job in the world. I get to teach students what I believe in whole heartedly which is dignified, compassionate care. We all work so hard to support patient and families, it is just the most rewarding thing ever to provide great care” said Sue Marshall, ellenor’s Training Facilitator.
Sue Marshall has worked at ellenor for the past 16 years, a Kent hospice that provides an individualised approach to end of life care. She is an experienced palliative care provider working on both the Inpatient Ward and more recently as Training Facilitator. Sue makes a huge impact to the delivery of ellenor’s values, contributing to health and well-being through training and development. Her role is vital in student learning and she works as part of the Education Team, training ellenor staff and volunteers; she provides opportunities for individuals aged from 16 years and over, through exposure to a wide variety of training, care programmes and experiences to deliver high quality and safe care to patients and families at the end of life.
Claire Cardy, ellenor’s Chief Executive said: “We are delighted that a member of our staff will be part of the Royal Wedding. We felt that Sue deserved to be recognised for her passion, hard work and commitment. Her role is hugely important for ellenor and for the future care of our patients as it creates tomorrow’s caring workforce, providing them with enhanced education and skills”.
