Second oldest family business in Kent celebrates 125 years

Since its inception in 1898, when Agnes Mercy Vowles and her husband Frank Wellington opened their clothing shop on Bexley Road, Wellingtons has remained an enduring fixture on the local high street.

“Over the years, our journey has seen us evolve. During WW2, we provided furniture rationing coupons, and in the post-war era, we ventured into the world of televisions and furniture.

In 1955, we made a pivotal shift towards electronics, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. Fast forward to today, and Wellingtons stands as the 2nd oldest family business in Kent, a testament to our enduring commitment to our community.

As we celebrate 125 years on the high street this November, we’re thrilled to invite you to a week of exciting events. From captivating Cooking Demos to Kitchen extravaganzas and delightful Prosecco & Canapes evenings, there’s something for everyone.

The festivities kick off on November 4th and culminate on the 11th. Whether you’re in search of a new kitchen, appliances, or simply seeking some Christmas recipe inspiration, join us for this special occasion.”
