Shangri-La The Shard, London launches apres-ski in the clouds this winter with new Alpine themed experiences and special festive events

This winter, Shangri-La The Shard, London will whisk guests away to the Austrian Alps as the hotel transforms into an apres-ski wonderland imagined by Feldbach-born General Manager, Kurt Macher. On the ground floor, Bar 31 will launch new cosy outdoor chalets with twinkling fairy lights, serving hearty Austrian snacks, cheese and warming glühwein. Meanwhile, guests visiting the hotel for a sleighcation or celebrating at TĪNG restaurant or London’s highest GŎNG bar over the festive season will find a magical Alpine gingerbread village, ski gondola and wood panelling evoking a touch of mountain chic.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s kitchens have whipped up a delicious array of sweet and savoury surprises for guests to feast and make merry this season.

Alpine Afternoon Tea

Served from 8th November from 12-4pm, TĪNG Lounge will launch a new Alpine Afternoon Tea to enjoy alongside wintry views over London, with a warm turkey and cranberry sausage roll and freshly baked scones accompanied by Austrian savouries such as smoked trout and pretzels spread with Liptauer, finished with delicate traditional Austrian pastries including Sachertorte and Black Forest Gâteau. Available from £62, and from £72 with a glass of champagne or cocktail.

Christmas Day Dining

For guests choosing to celebrate Christmas Day in the sky, a special, decadent lunch and dinner menu will be served in TĪNG, with traditional favourites such as Norfolk turkey or wagyu rib-eye steak paired with fine wines, and desserts including Christmas pudding with brandy anglaise or mandarin cremeaux with pistachio ‘ice cream’. Available from £225 per person with optional wine pairing and £125 for children.

Bar 31 transforms into Hütte 31

Bar 31 will undergo an Alpine re-brand as it launches Hütte 31, one of London’s most authentic outdoor chalet drinking and dining experiences this festive season. Visitors will cosy up in wooden chalets with soft blankets and guaranteed ‘snow’ as an ideal wintry hideaway to enjoy traditional Austrian delicacies, from Nuernberger Sausage Rolls and Chicken Schnitzel to enjoy alongside glühwein, Botanist gin cocktails, hot toddies and boozy hot chocolate. Chalets seat up to four people and can be booked subject to availability.
