Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent Trail Launches Across Maidstone

A fabulous free public art trail has kicked off in the heart of Maidstone, bringing to the community 51 impressive sculptures of Shaun the Sheep and his friends that are awaiting to be found in various locations throughout the town – promising lots of creative fun for families this summer!

Running until the 30 August, ‘Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent’ is a creative partnership between Heart of Kent Hospice, Wild in Art, Aardman and Presenting Partner, Maidstone Borough Council and includes large uniquely designed sheep sculptures and small flocks placed around the town, from riverside walks and parks to iconic public buildings, delighting and surprising all who see them.

A free trail map and app have been designed to help everyone find all the Shaun’s and take part in the fun – both can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Families can also pick up a map from key locations around the town centre including Shaun HQ in Fremlin Walk or Shaun’s Baa-rn in the Mall – where those taking part will also collect their well-deserved finishers sticker once they have found all the sculptures.

Erica Snow, Project Manager at Heart of Kent Hospice said: “All our wonderful artists, from Kent and further afield, have created the most amazing designs and we are looking forward to when everyone can walk the free art trail to discover all the fabulous Shaun designs for themselves along with some of the most iconic locations around Maidstone,” she says, “Shaun is cheeky and mischievous, and surrounded by his farmyard friends he lives life to the full – the Hospice hopes this new art trail will not only raise vital funds for the Hospice when the sculptures are auctioned in September but will also serve as a reminder that Heart of Kent Hospice is there to provide support to patients and their loved ones when they need it most, both at home and within the Hospice which is located in Aylesford.”

Later this year people can book a slot to visit all the Shaun Sculptures under one roof at the Farewell Weekend which takes place between 13 – 15 September 2024. This is the ideal time to choose which Shaun Sculpture to bid on at an exciting live auction on Thursday 26 September 2024. All proceeds from the auction will help the Hospice to continue to provide outstanding Hospice care to the local community.

To ensure you don’t miss out on any of the fun, visit www.shaunheartofkent.co.uk and download the free app from the App Store or Google Play.
