Spa Valley Railway launches new ‘Dining in the Weald’ Experience

The Spa Valley Railway in Royal Tunbridge Wells has launched a new initiative aimed at attracting more ‘foodies’ to its heritage railway.

The new ‘Dining in the Weald’ brand will provide visitors with an opportunity to add food and drink options while enjoying a return train journey by steam or heritage diesel train between Royal Tunbridge Wells West and Eridge Station.

‘Dining in the Weald’ experiences on board the Spa Valley Railway services include: Steam and Morning Coffee, Cream Teas, Saturday Evening Dinners, Sunday Luncheon, Fish and Chip Suppers, Curry Express and Murder Mystery Events.

The newest ‘Dining in the Weald’ option, being launched this month, includes the new ‘Steam and Morning Coffee’ experience where visitors are invited to start their day with a tea or coffee and a selection of Danish pastries, pain au chocolate and croissants on board the 10:20 Steam train service from Tunbridge Wells West.  The service will run on selected Green Timetable days of the year and anyone choosing to arrive at 10am will have time to see inside the Victorian Engine Shed at Tunbridge Wells West before the train departs.  When trains arrive at Eridge there is the opportunity to alight briefly to take in the nostalgic sight and smell of the steam locomotive before joining the waiting heritage diesel locomotive for the return journey back to Tunbridge Wells.  The train will arrive back at approximately 11:40.

On all the ‘Dining in the Weald’ experiences, passengers will get to enjoy the glorious High Weald countryside as the train passes through High Rocks and Groombridge on its way to Eridge from the comfort of the beautifully decorated Bar Car ‘Kate’.

Tickets are valid for travel all day which means after enjoying your 10:20 round trip you can stay on board and take our 12:00 service back down the line to explore some of the places along the line including High Rocks and Groombridge.

What’s included in the ticket price?

  • Morning Coffee service on the 10:20 departure from Tunbridge Wells West.
  • All day travel on the Spa Valley Railway after your ‘Morning Coffee’.
  • A choice of tea or coffee served on board one of our heritage carriages.
  • 1x Danish Pastries, 1x Pain au Chocolat and 1x Croissant per person.

Morning Coffee Prices: Adult £18 and Children £12.
