Days Out

Summer Sundays at Penshurst Place & Gardens

22nd Jul – 2nd Sep, Sundays 10.30am – 6.00pm

Falconry: 11am – 5pm, Children’s Crafts: 11am – 4pm, Garden Pantomimes: 2pm – 4pm

Forget lazy Sunday afternoons, there’s far too much to discover at Penshurst Place this summer. For a start, there’s an all new falconry show, which is sure to elicit more than a few oohs and ahhhs from bird and dog lovers. Introduced for the first time this year, The Hawking Centre will be demonstrating the skill of these magnificent predators as they work in harmony with trained dogs in live shows every Sunday throughout the summer holidays.

Aardvark Productions will be entertaining children and adults alike with a brand-new panto in the garden. This year’s show will see Mr Toad learning about the importance of banning plastic and how important it is to look after the environment, an ethos reflected by Penshurst Place who has banned the use of plastic straws, cups etc. from all its catering outlets.

There are plenty of other summertime activities to keep visitors of all ages entertained, including a variety of children crafts activities. This coming Sunday’s crafts (5th August) have a ‘Grasslands’ theme – creating giraffe masks, elephant puppets, binoculars, big-mouth lion and the 12th August is ‘Farmland’ – making chicken masks, pig bookmarks, handprint cockerels and scarecrows.

The adventure playground has been refurbished and has a new fortified mound and zip wire ready for the summer. And there is the all new woodland trail to explore, complete with natural play material ready and waiting to be transformed into dens and camps.
