Days Out

Time to reveal the all new Maize Maze

Penshurst Place is delighted to reveal the aerial photo of this year’s Maize Maze. Always a popular summer attraction, the maze is redesigned every year. This year’s official maze launch is on the 14th July, with the theme for 2018 being time travel. Visitors will be able to wind their way through a giant clock face as they collect clues from different historical eras hidden in the maze. Once they have collected all the clues, they’ll be able to crack the puzzle and be in with the chance of winning a family season ticket!

The time travel theme reflects Penshurst’s rich history; the stately home dates back 675 years and the real clocks that inspired the maze design can be seen inside the 14th Century medieval home.

Taking around 40 minutes to complete in most cases, the eco-friendly maze is set to be great fun for children and adults alike. Those with a competitive side can take advantage of a new tactical maze that requires any explorers that take it on to collect the clues in the right order to crack the code!

This year Penshurst Place is giving visitors two chances to win a family season ticket, so bring along your cameras or smartphones to be in with a chance of winning! Entering is easy – just take a selfie in the maze and post it on social media, with the hashtag #PenshurstMaizeMaze. The selfie competition will run until 9th September 2018, with winners announced via Twitter @PenshurstPlace and Facebook a week later. The family season ticket, worth £78, gives holders access to the stately home, its 11 acres of gardens, the adventure playground and parkland for a whole year.

Children need to be accompanied by an adult, and maze stewards will be on hand if anyone needs a bit of help finding their way. Entrance to the Maize Maze is included in the standard garden entry ticket prices and is £2 for those entering using an RHS or Gardener’s World membership card. The maze is open every day during the summer, from 11:00am to 6pm, with last entry at 5pm.
