Treat Yourself To Afternoon Tea At The Bexleyheath Marriott

There is just something so special about a good old fashioned, proper afternoon tea. Whether it’s the tiny sandwiches cut into rectangular perfection, the vast selection of cakes that we would never (probably) eat at home, or the unlimited amounts of exquisite tea itself, that feeling of being treated and pampered is inextricably linked to the meal.

At the Bexleyheath Marriott you can have all this and more with their lovely afternoon tea package. We arrived on a busy Friday afternoon, damp from the wintry weather and excited to try some delicacies. The staff were attentive and helpful, immediately showing us to a table that was laid out just for us. No detail was overlooked, down to the little gifts on the table and the crisp white tablecloth.

Tea orders were taken – there is a wide range to choose from, and if you aren’t sure of what to have, just ask – but before the tea arrived, the champagne did. It certainly made the evening feel luxurious and definitely added to the enjoyment.

The food itself arrived on a lovely three tiered platter. The waitress kindly explained to us what each section included; finger sandwiches on white and brown bread filled with gorgeous flavours such as salmon, beef, and egg mayonnaise; massive fresh, hot scones with cream and jam (half fruit, half plain); and that all important cake selection. Chocolate, fruit, tarts, creams… it was a beautiful thing.

Since we had a child with us, a really wonderful touch was the children’s version of the platter. Smaller, with sandwiches including jam, ham, and peanut butter, and with a big pot of Nutella for the scones (that went down particularly well), it was all thought out perfectly.

We almost managed all of it. One small piece of cake finally beat us, and although it was a shame to leave it, we just couldn’t do it – it had been a huge meal and one which was very reasonably priced indeed.

The beauty of the great afternoon tea at the Bexleyheath Marriott is that it is all about being spoilt, treated, and indulging in a bit of something special. It’s perfect for a birthday or anniversary, or even just because you want to show someone – or yourself – that you care.
