VAUXHALL ART CAR BOOT FAIR RETURNS TO FOLKESTONE
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair will be returning to the vibrant and artistic streets of Folkestone on the 2nd September. Taking place on the opening weekend of the Folkestone Triennial, the one-day festival promises to be one of the most vivacious events of the summer arts calendar.
The Folkestone edition follows the successful event in London in July and will host another eclectic line-up of artists who will be selling exclusive pieces from the boots of both new and vintage Vauxhall cars.
The Harbour Arm, the lovingly restored Promenade out to sea, has become a pivotal focus for Folkestone’s regeneration as a destination town and will provide a beautiful backdrop for this year’s Fair.
The 2017 theme is ‘The Original’, so expect rare opportunities to snap up lots of genuine and exclusive bargains. The stellar line-up of sought after artists will include Sir Peter Blake, Kristjana Willliams, Vic Reeves, Gavin Turk and Geraldine Swayne plus a host of locally based artists including Kate Knight, Matt Rowe, Kelvin Pawsey and collective Fish&Chips who will all pitch up in person.
As well as lots of original art to buy at staggering just-for-the-day prices, the fair will also feature a line-up of world class DJs, promenade performances, a fidget-spinner drawing workshop for kids, six different ways to have your self-portrait made plus special art car commissions to be announced mid-August. Plus, suitably eclectic food and drink including the world launch of the Nats Chaff Micro Pub.
“The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is a staple event in the calendar for us at Vauxhall Motors,” says Denis Chick, Director of Communications. “Following the success of the annual London event in Vauxhall, we’re delighted to be back on the stunning shores of Folkestone. This event is for everyone, regardless of your art expertise and we’ll be dusting off some of our own ‘Originals’ from Vauxhall’s heritage collection.”
Karen Ashton, Founder of the Art Car Boot Fair says, “As well as bringing an original line-up to Folkestone, we’ll also be drawing on all the rich talents of the local artistic community. We’re delighted to be part of the opening weekend of the Folkestone Triennial amongst all the new world-class and spectacular site-specific commissions in and around the town.”
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair takes place on Saturday 2nd September at The Harbour Arm, Folkestone, C20 1QH between 12 – 4pm. Entry is priced at £5.
