Visit Kent: Make 2024 a Year to Remember

Words by Visit Kent

It’s that time of year when we all start thinking about what’s next…Are we going to learn a language? (Possibly). Join the gym? (Unlikely). Take an exotic trip?

Well, park those ideas for a moment while we tell you about all the milestone anniversaries and events right here in Kent that are going to fill your calendar and make 2024 a year to remember…

New Year’s Eve might be over but there are still plenty of opportunities to pop the bubbly! Celebrate 50 years of the Leeds Castle Charitable Trust or 40 years of the Historic Dockyard trust at Chatham with exhibitions delving into hundreds of years of history and exciting events throughout the year.

Not to be left out, The Turner Contemporary in Margate are commemorating 250 years since the birth of JMW Turner with a year of exhibitions, events and installations showcasing Kent’s incredibly talented art community. Also in Margate, your next family day out awaits at the all-new WonderWorks where you can delve into the wonderful world of Hornby, Britain’s most beloved model-making brand, as they too celebrate their fiftieth year. If you’d rather experience some of Kent’s stunning landscapes, take a scenic journey through the countryside as The Kent & East Sussex Railway also celebrates its 50th anniversary!

It’s looking like 2024 is truly the year of the party with a jam-packed festival schedule ready to entertain the county. Medway’s Festival 2024 kicks off the celebrations with a year-long programme of cultural events showcasing the creativity and ambition of Medway’s community. Canterbury is also bringing the festival vibes year-round with its annual Medieval Pageant, its new Wine Festival and of course the vibrant Pride parade. There’s also the incredible arts showcase, the Canterbury Festival, to look forward to which is always a highlight.

For the food and drink aficionados among you, the Produced in KentTaste of Kent’ festival is a taste extravaganza where visitors can sample some of the county’s award-winning, locally produced food and drink. Gusbourne is also treating us this year by hosting some incredible events between January and March complete with guided wine tastings and delicious three-course lunches – the perfect antidote to any post-Christmas blues.

With so many excuses for a party, we’re planning to keep those festive feelings flowing all year!
