Sir Malcolm Campbells Bluebird K3 and the famous Dragon Boat Race will have tourists flocking to South East’s largest reservoir, Bewl Water over the coming weeks.

The 800-acre site rightly has an outstanding reputation for hosting major events, and this summer is no different. Throughout August and September, Bewl Water will see the likes of TLSports and Hermes Running amongst others take centre stage in a host of family-friendly competitions and celebrations:

Dragon Boat Race September 10

The annual Dragon Boat race is back, and Bewl Water are encouraging teams to get involved and raise as much money as possible for good causes. Since the event began in 1998, over £2.7 million has been raised for more than 400 local, national, and international charities as 60 Dragon Boat teams with crews of 16 paddlers (plus a drummer) race over a 250-metre course.

As Keen as Mustard Swim Run September 11

Get your pulse racing in this fantastic swimrun. Catering for varied abilities and distances, the course emphasises on adventure, navigating through woods, paths and trails using naturally occurring swim entry and exit points. Participants can choose to race in a selection of solo 6k, 10k, and 21k courses as well as teaming up for the latter.

Sir Malcolm Campbells Bluebird K3 September 21

Sir Malcolm Campbells Bluebird K3 returns to Bewl Water celebrating the boat’s 85th anniversary of her first record in 1937. The reservoir is a special location for Bluebird K3 as it was here that her engines first roared in life again after being retired and falling into disrepair.

Hermes Running September 24

Rated as one of the top 10 marathons in the UK, Hermes Running returns to Bewl Water where participants will challenge themselves in either a half, full or ultra-marathon. A 10k race will also be available with all four courses taking place on a combination of rural wooded trails and quiet country lanes, with unrivalled views of the reservoir.
