Here at Sissinghurst we’re open throughout the winter apart from 24 and 25 December, we have plenty going on from estate walks and festive lunches to exhibitions and a festive market, so there’s something for all the family to enjoy.

While the garden may be closed for important winter conservation we still have lots to see. As part of this year’s winter offer we have new exhibitions which will be changing throughout the months. Play and Display started off the exhibition season which is based in the oast house. In December we have a new exhibition of Doodles which is a display of various illustrations created by famous people including works by Twiggy, André Derain as well as the illustrators of Scooby Doo and many others. The Doodles exhibition runs between 3 December – 3 January, open daily 11am – 3.30pm normal admission applies, closed 24 & 25 Dec.

Out on the estate winter is a great time of year for walkers, with over 450 acres to explore there’s plenty of adventure to be had. Head into visitor reception to pick up an estate walk map and be sure to bring your wellies with you. Rarely opened before, this winter you can now step in to the South Cottage, this charming building sits proudly within the cottage  garden and is steeped in literary history as well as being home to Vita and Harold’s bedrooms. A visit to the South Cottage is a must see if you’re a lover of literature and history. Entry is via timed tickets with a limited daily capacity and included as part of normal admission. On 26 and 27 November we’re hosting our annual festive market, with local food, drink, crafts and produce, it’s a great chance to kick start your Christmas shopping. We’ll also have live entertainment on Sunday with a performance from the East Grinstead concert band. The festive market will be taking place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, between 10.30am and 3pm, free entry to the market.
